Canton, Georgia, founded in 1834 and located in Cherokee County, has recently been labeled one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and is the vibrant, exciting county seat of Cherokee County.  Though this statistic is regarding population growth, Canton, Georgia is also seeing exciting growth in business, as well as overall community improvements.  Numerous projects around the city are being completed to keep up with this growth, and Canton residents are reaping the benefits.

As a point of interest, other Cherokee County towns are Woodstock, Ball Ground, Waleska and Holly Springs.  In previous years, Georgia Marble Finishing Works and Canton Cotton Mills operated in Canton. Each of these manufacturing companies were significant manufacturers and employers in the Southeast. Several notable agribusinesses currently operating in Canton are Cagle Dairy Farms and Seaboard Farms Poultry. One of the amazing projects happening in the city is the construction of the Hickory Log Creek dam and reservoir.  This dam will provide residents with 44 million gallons of water on a daily basis, and will also serve as a fantastic recreational resource.  Residents will not only be able to use electric or self-propelled boats in the reservoir, but they will also be able to fish, hike, camp and cookout with family and friends in the wooded park land.

Heritage Park is yet another improvement to Canton, Georgia.  This park, located alongside the Etowah River, holds beautiful wooded land for residents to enjoy.  The park also contains a natural amphitheater, where concerts and movies are shown all summer long.

Though there have been a lot of improvements to the city of Canton, there is nothing like sticking to the original.  The Historic Canton Theater has been in the city of Canton for over 90 years.  While the theater used to show silent movies back in the day, it now brings Broadway shows to the city for all residents to experience.
